Happy Humans...I met this sweet woman in Lerici Italy near the marina a few weeks ago. She was out on a walk for her groceries. As she passed we exchanged "Bonjourno's"...and her face lit up. A beautiful and genuine smile connected us for a moment. I had to ask her if I could take her portrait. She was absolutely befuddled that I wanted to take HER photo. From what I could tell from our conversation, mostly in my 3rd grade Italian, was that she'd not had a portrait taken in 30 years. A woman who was with her, whom I believe was her daughter, told me "She must really have connected with you, no one in our family is allowed to take her photo!" I feel pretty honored that complete strangers allow me to come into their lives and capture their likeness. As I look at it from the subjects perspective, a great deal of trust is placed on the photographer. My duty as I capture portraits of Happy Humans is to honor the trust shown to me and deliver to the world portraits that reflect not only an outer beauty, but the inner happy human as well.
